Dance School Update:

18th March

“How I learned to master the dance steps in my class and in the clubs twice as fast as anyone around me…”

Posted by: Jon on March 18, 2009 3:37pm

Hi, I am Jon, and I’m from San Francisco, CA. I wanted to share my dance school success story with you. I’m not exactly what you’d call a natural dancer, a person with an innate talent for dancing, or anything like that. I’m just a guy who discovered a simple system that enabled me to learn how to dance extremely fast. A system that works better than anything else I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried many things). Whether you’re learning Tango or Swing, it doesn’t matter… I did it with Salsa, and it can work for anything else. All the top-rated dance classes I tried were nothing in comparisson to this new method I tried. Hopefully my story inspires you to get the same results as me and become a better dance than you thought possible…

I hope my story can help you not just to be a better dancer, but also to become more healthy, and to feel happier about yourself. In the past, I really struggled with my dance steps, and I became familliar with the frustrating feeling of being unable keep up in the dance school where I was taking salsa classes. But about 10 weeks ago, I found this new method that consists of the easiest and most simple technique which practically anyone can follow… It was so obvious! It was right infront of my face the whole time I was struggling!

By coupling my group classes at the local dance school with instructional dance videos, I discovered that I could double, nearly tripple, my learning speed as well as my skills. Not only did I become a better and more on-beat dancer, I also felt more confident and natural when attending my dance school, or going to the clubs. Since then, my life has totally changed. Recently, I’ve been the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been! By using videos from DanceCrazy and The Dance Store I completely revolutionized the way I learned to dance… And so can you.

While this method was new to me, it probably was new to everyone. And that’s why I need to write it down and tell people about it. Because if you haven’t gone to your dance school class and practiced with an instructional dance video, then you’re seriously preventing yourself truly learning to dance.

What should I write about to advertise my dance school in the local press?

28th September

I want to advertise my dance school in the local press, but don’t want to pay a fortune for a tiny advert.
Instead, I wan to write an article about the School, but I need some ideas on what I can write about, that would make it into the paper.

Thanks.

The local paper will not print articles that advertise your dance school. That’s what they have paid ads for.

What they will print are articles that are of interest to their readers. You have an ideal opportunity with the start of Strictly in the next couple of weeks. Write an article that comments on the popularity of the show and how it’s raised people’s interest in dancing. Talk about the fitness benefits of dancing and the social benefits. Come across as an expert on how good dancing is for people.

Another angle on it may be the journey that you have made in setting up your school. Did you enter dance competitions? Do your pupils enter competitions? What is their/your experience compared with the glitz and glamour of Strictly?

Good luck!

Any good dance schools on Long Island for an 18yr old?

26th September

I’ve looked around and all the good classes are for teens lol but being that I’m 18, I can’t join those classes. Does anyone know of any good dance schools with adult classes? Preferably jazz, modern, and/or lyrical classes?

I wish you had said where on the Island….I live in Ronkonkoma and if you are anywhere close to there may I suggest you look into Roseland School of dance (there is one in Oakdale too). We don’t do modern dance but there is a true adult jazz class(youngest girl in class is around 19-20 oldest is close to 50 and there are close to 30 of us in class). I am taking lyrical for the first time and my class ranges from me (32) to middle school. Since there are so many dance schools you can practically find one on every corner, I would call the closest one to you and ask for adult classes. I will tell you, if you have to take a "teen" class like I’m doing it’s not so bad, I’m also starting ballet for the first time and I’m dancing with kids as young as 10 and I don’t care, it’s about learning the dance style not who is dancing with you. We aren’t a competition school but you can still learn as much as you care too. It’s a relaxed place with good teachers who I have learned a lot from over the last 2 years of taking classes with them (jazz & hip hop)

does any one know any dance schools or academies in philadelphia?

14th August

me and my little 3 year old cousin are trying to find some dance school to join, that has ballet or pop dance classes.please answer asap.

You have the Rock school and Koresh Dance. Two very famous dance schools. I do think they have programs for little ones there too. For a three year old it would be creative movement. I think they are even too young for pre-ballet, but I am not sure.

what are some good dance schools or colleges in california?

11th August

I am going to be a senior in high school and I really want to dance professionally. I’m going to be 17. I don’t have a lot of dance experience but I absolutely LOVE dancing and I am willing to get better just to go to a school for it. I want to know what schools are in CA and will they accept me if I am a okay/good dance and want to become a professional? I love dancing so much!

Hi Dani! I had a roommate last year that’s mother owned a dance school and my response to your question is: is there a certain area in California that you want to practice? If you do (or even don’t) check out California College Search. From here you can look at colleges by zip code or city, type or name of the college, or by the degree, dance, you would like to go into. When you find a college(s) you are interested in fill out the corresponding form and they will send you free information about their program, price, etc. Good Luck!

What are good dance schools that teach hip hop in Las Vegas?

7th August

I’m fourteen and my sister is eleven. It needs to be as cheap as possible but still a good quality school. Also, starting August 30 I will be in school from 7-1:30, and my sister gets out at 2:30.

Well, just go to http://www.yelp.com/ , search "dance studio", enter your zip code or city and state, and click search. It’s the best local businesses/reviews site ever, and it’s very popular so you’re gonna get a lot of reviews. If the business has a website, it’ll be listed there on its profile. Go to the business’s website and look at the tuition and schedule/calendar. If the site doesn’t have it, call up and ask. Don’t email because they rarely answer. If they do, they take weeks.
Hope I helped! Good luck!

Love, MiMi

What are the top dance colleges and schools in the world?

13th July

What are the best dancing schools / colleges in the world for different types of dancing.
for ballet, tap, ballroom, salsa and hip hop.
Please comment if you know what the top school is for any of the 5 styles.
Thank-You!

There are no colleges for hip hop.
Ballet dancers go directly into companies not college, but there is Indiana U and Butler U.
No college for ballroom, or salsa either.

Most college/conservatories are contemporary based like Juilliard or NYU Tisch. Some offer a stronger ballet focus like the ones I mentioned. Others offer Jazz as well, but none are for the 4 stiyles other than ballet that you mentioned.
(Juilliard does have tap as an elective)
